Tiny Wearable Books Workshop with Valeria Kremser

January 14, 2017
10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Free Library of Philadelphia, Parkway Central

Books have been worn for hundreds of years. Come make two tiny blank book necklaces or a pair of earrings and learn some tricks for working small.

Students should bring bookbinding tools if they have them – bone folder, sewing needle, scissors. Tools will be provided to those without. All other supplies will be provided. If you need some nourishment during that time, bring it with you.

The instructor: Valeria Kremser is a book conservation technician, artist, and educator, born and raised in Philadelphia. She currently works in the Steven Miller Conservation Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, in the Kislak Center. In her free time, she makes handmade paper, paper-based jewelry, miniature books, and prints about animals. She is also on the boards of the Philadelphia Center for the Book and the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers.
