Long Stitch Binding Workshop with Amanda D’Amico

October 29, 2016
10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free Library of Philadelphia, Parkway Central

This historical binding is a quick and beautiful way to make a journal or sketchbook with multiple signatures. Students will learn a basic stitch and variations to explore independently. Walk away with a sewing card and two journals, plus the confidence to make many more books!

Students should bring bookbinding tools if they have them – awl, bone folder, sewing needle, scissors. Tools will be provided to those without. All other supplies will be provided. If you need some nourishment during that time, bring it with you.

Amanda D’Amico is a book artist working under the imprint Tiny Revolutionary Press. She is the Master Printer at the Borowsky Center for Publication Arts, and teaches at the University of the Arts and at Tyler School of Art. She has served on the Board of the Philadelphia Center for the Book since 2009. Her artists’ books have been collected and exhibited nationally.
