Join the Philadelphia Center for the Book and Hive76 for
An evening with Colette Fu.

Colette Fu’s pop-ups structurally push the boundaries of the book. Her photographed based imagery is rich, detailed, and riveting; with each reading, the viewer’s experience grows and deepens. Fu is an extraordinarily accomplished artist.

In this lecture she will share with us some of her innovative work and discuss some of the technology she uses.

Following the lecture the members Hive76, Philadelphia’s premier Maker Space, will have demonstrations of some of the technology used in these stunning pop-ups books.

Colette Fu is an interdisciplinary artist who uses her vivid photographs in various forms of collage and collapsible artist books. Fu received her MFA in Fine Art Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2003 and soon after began dissecting pop-up books which is now her primary medium of artmaking. A passionate photographer and exceptionally skilled paper engineer, Fu has designed pop-ups for award winning stop motion animation commercials and has freelanced for clients Vogue China, Canon Asia and Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton. Her work is included in many private and rare archive collections and she has received numerous awards including Fulbright, the Independence Foundation, Sovereign Foundation, and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
