Blizzard Books with Amanda D’Amico

September 22, 2018
10:00 am

Free Library of Philadelphia, Parkway Central

In this fast-paced workshop we will make a model of the Blizzard Book, created by book artist Hedi Kyle. This folded book structure is perfect for housing a collection of ephemera, and students will learn how to modify the structure to make books that are both playful and practical. Each participant will leave with 2-3 models and the knowledge to fold more books on their own.

Amanda D’Amico is a book artist working under the imprint Tiny Revolutionary Press. She is the Master Printer at the Borowsky Center for Publication Arts, and teaches at the University of the Arts, Tyler School of Art, and Hussian College in Philadelphia. She has served on the board of the Philadelphia Center for the Book since 2009, and is an artist member of The Soapbox: Community Print Shop and Zine Library, as well as Impractical Laborers in Service of the Speculative Arts. Her artist’s books have been collected and exhibited nationally.
