In collaboration with the Rosenbach Museum & Library

An evening of activities related to banned books in the Rosenbach’s Collections, in conjunction with a book sharing event and exhibition of books by PCB members on themes related to banned books (censorship, expression, control, etc.) More information to come. Philadelphia Open Studio Tours Open Portfolio Event
In collaboration with Inliquid, Philagrafika, and The Print Center

Crane Arts Building

1400 N. American Street

This event will provide a venue for more than 30 individual artists during the weekend of October 11–12, 2008 as part of the citywide Philadelphia Open Studio Tours, to showcase their fine art prints, photographs and artists books to the public in an art fair setting. Each participating artist will be given a table to display his or her work for the public from noon to 6:00 p.m. Registration for this event is currently full.

This is a great opportunity to show work, sell work, and see what book/paper/scissors people are doing. Exhibition in collaboration with the Hahnemann Medical Library at Drexel
A juried exhibition of members’ books, in relation to themes of anatomy, medicine, illness, health, and healing. Books may be a direct response to books in Hahnemann’s collection, or on a related theme. The library is open to the public (with picture ID) Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. if members wish to peruse the collections.

Deadline for entries: January 9, 2009. Entry details to follow.

The Hybrid Book: Intersection and Intermedia
An International Book Arts Conference and Fair

The University of the Arts

PCB will be collaborating with the University of the Arts on this program, which will include: panels and speakers on the varied identities of the book & the implications of its interdisciplinary nature; a book fair at which artists, publishers and vendors exhibit & sell current work; a showcase of several internationally known artists/ designers; and a juried exhibition of recent work by alumni of The University of the Arts' MFA Book Arts/ Printmaking program

Chris Johnson mediated the PCB board and select members to access prior developments and future intiatives of the Center. The group spent the day discussing the mission statement, goals and objectives of the Center, and the next steps in the growth of our organization.
